WWDC26 has officially been announced and will take place from June 8 to 12, 2026. It’s always one of my favorite moments of the year, because this is where Apple gives us a first look at what’s next.
For most of us, that means one thing: iOS 27. The next big update that will shape how we use our iPhones every single day.
In this article, I want to take you through everything we know so far. The rumors, the expectations, and what I personally hope Apple will introduce this year. Let’s dive in 👀📱

What is WWDC?
If you’ve been following Apple for a while, you’ll know that WWDC is one of those moments in the year that just feels… different. It’s not just another event. It’s where everything starts.
WWDC, short for Worldwide Developers Conference, is Apple’s annual event where they give us a first look at what’s next for all their platforms. Think iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch… this is where the future of Apple software is introduced.
It all kicks off with the keynote on June 8, where Apple unveils the big updates, like the next version of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS. But what I personally love is that WWDC goes far beyond that one presentation. Throughout the week, Apple shares over 100 sessions, diving deeper into new features, tools, and technologies. Especially around things like AI, which is expected to play a big role this year.
What makes WWDC truly special, though, is that it’s not just about announcements. It’s about connection. Developers from all over the world get the chance to interact directly with Apple engineers and designers, ask questions, and explore what’s possible with the new tools and frameworks.
And even if you’re not a developer, you feel the impact. Because everything announced here eventually shapes the way we use our devices every single day.
For me, WWDC always feels like the starting point of a new Apple chapter. And honestly, I can’t wait to see what they have in store this year. And yes, one day I hope to attend the WWDC Conference in-person.

iOS 27
This year, we’ll get our first look at iOS 27. The next chapter in how we use our iPhones every day.
Last year, Apple made a pretty big shift with iOS 26. They introduced Liquid Glass, a redesign that gave icons and buttons a more transparent, layered look. It made everything feel a bit more alive… and honestly, a lot more premium. You can read more about iOS 26 here. Liquid Glass is something that will still be present in iOS 27.
This year, iOS 27 looks to be less about big visual changes, and more about smarter AI features, better performance, and fixing what needs fixing.
New Siri
Yes, you read that right. Apple is reportedly working on a completely new version of Siri. One that’s not only smarter, but also much better integrated with third-party apps.
What I find especially interesting is that Apple might even introduce a dedicated Siri app in iOS 27. That alone says a lot about the direction they’re heading in. It really feels like iOS 27 will be heavily focused on AI, and honestly… it’s about time.
A new Siri would honestly be more than welcome. I really hope this is the moment it finally becomes smarter and more useful in everyday life.
Siri has been around for a long time now. It first launched with the iPhone 4S back in 2011. And if I’m honest, it never really lived up to what it could have been. Yes, it has improved over the years, and with newer iOS versions Apple keeps highlighting small upgrades, like simple things such as setting a timer.
But it still doesn’t feel like a truly great voice assistant. I’ve often had the feeling that competitors like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are just a step ahead in what they can actually do.
So this feels like an important moment. Siri has been around for over a decade. Now it’s time for it to really evolve.

iPhone Fold
iOS 27 won’t just be about AI. It’s also expected to prepare for something completely new: the iPhone Fold.
A foldable iPhone with a larger display naturally asks for a different kind of experience. And it looks like Apple is already building iOS 27 with that in mind. When unfolded, the iPhone Fold could feel a bit like a mix between an iPhone and an iPad, with more space, smarter layouts, and even the ability to use two apps side by side.
At the same time, it will still run iOS. So when you fold it back, everything returns to the familiar iPhone experience we already know.
What I find interesting is how Apple seems to focus on creating something that feels natural in both states. Bigger when you need it, compact when you don’t. Without losing that simplicity.
It really feels like iOS 27 is also laying the groundwork for a whole new kind of iPhone. Below you see a concept of the iPhone Fold. Credits to FPT.
And just to be clear, “iPhone Fold” is only a rumored name for now. Knowing Apple, they might surprise us with something entirely different.

More AI updates
iOS 27 looks like it’s shaping up to be a really interesting update. Not just because of AI or the iPhone Fold, but because of how it could quietly improve the entire experience.
One of the things I’m curious about is a smarter AI Calendar app. Apple is expected to bring AI into it, which could mean better planning, smarter suggestions, and less manual work when organizing your day.
Apple Health is another area where Apple seems to be going deeper. While the full “Health+” vision may have been scaled back, we could still see AI-powered insights inside the Health app. Things like personalized recommendations, clearer reports, and guidance that actually helps you understand your data.
There are also early signs of new satellite features being worked on behind the scenes. Things like using Apple Maps or even messaging via satellite sound futuristic, and while not everything may arrive right away, it shows where Apple is heading.
But what stands out most to me is the overall direction of iOS 27. It’s expected to be more of a refinement update. Focused on performance, stability, and making everything feel faster and smoother. Less about flashy changes, and more about getting the basics exactly right.
And honestly, those are often the updates you end up appreciating the most in daily use. We’ve seen this approach from Apple before. Back in 2009, with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, they chose to focus less on big new features and more on fixing bugs and improving performance.
My thoughts
All in all, iOS 27 feels like a different kind of update. Not necessarily the one with the biggest visual changes, but one that could quietly make a real difference in how we use our iPhones every day.
With a stronger focus on AI, better performance, and laying the groundwork for what’s next, like a foldable iPhone, it feels like Apple is preparing for a bigger shift behind the scenes.
WWDC is always the moment where everything starts to come together.
The rumors turn into real features, and we finally see the direction Apple is heading in.
Personally, I’m especially curious to see what they’ll do with Siri this year. It feels like the right time for it to truly evolve.
June 8 can’t come soon enough 👀📱
