This year marks a very special milestone: Apple is turning 50 years old. In this blog article, I want to talk about that moment and share a new book that has recently been released celebrating Apple’s first 50 years.
Apple was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. What started as a small project in a garage in California quickly grew into one of the most influential technology companies in the world. Their goal was simple: make computers that were powerful, but also accessible and easy for people to use.
Over the years, Apple introduced products that changed the tech industry completely. Think of the original Macintosh to the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and many others that are now part of everyday life for millions of people. The first iPhone launch was my favorite. You can watch it here. It's historical and honestly I keep watching this over and over.
But honestly said that my appreciation for Apple really began with the launch of the iPhone 4. That device felt different from anything else at the time. The design, the Retina display, and the way everything worked together just made the whole experience feel special. Since then, I’ve continued to follow Apple’s journey and the products they create.
In 2026, Apple will reach an incredible milestone. On April 1st, 2026, the company officially turns 50 years old, and yes, even though it’s April 1st, this is definitely not a joke ;-)
The new book “Apple: The First 50 Years” celebrates that remarkable journey, looking back at the people, the products, and the moments that shaped Apple into the company we know today.
50 years Apple
Technology columnist David Pogue has released a new book called Apple: The First 50 Years, which looks back at the incredible journey of Apple. If you follow technology or Apple news, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of David Pogue before. He is a well-known tech journalist who has spent many years explaining technology in a simple and accessible way. Today he is a correspondent for CBS Sunday Morning, and in the past he wrote about technology for publications like The New York Times and Macworld.
In his new book, Pogue tells the full story of Apple. From its early days in a California garage, to the difficult years when the company almost disappeared, and then its remarkable comeback when Steve Jobs returned to Apple. The book also looks at Apple’s modern era under Tim Cook, during which the company became one of the most valuable companies in the world.
What makes this book especially interesting is that it doesn’t just repeat the well-known Apple story. According to the description, it also includes new facts that correct parts of Apple’s history, along with fresh interviews with some of the legendary people who helped shape the company. The book is filled with beautiful full-color photos and stories that give a deeper look into Apple’s culture and the people behind the products we know today.
For anyone who loves Apple and its history, this book looks like a wonderful way to explore the story behind one of the most iconic technology companies ever created.

Interview with Apples CEO Tim Cook
Ahead of Apple’s 50th anniversary on April 1, 2026, tech journalist David Pogue also spoke with Apple CEO Tim Cook in an interview for CBS Sunday Morning. In the conversation, Cook reflected on what really makes Apple the company it is today.
According to Cook, two things are absolutely essential to Apple: its people and its culture.
He explained that while Apple owns a lot of valuable technology and intellectual property, the real magic comes from the people behind it.
“Yes, we have a lot of intellectual property, and that’s important,” Cook said. “But it’s people who create that intellectual property. And it’s the culture that creates the innovation around it.”
Cook also shared that Apple’s culture is something that cannot easily be copied by other companies
“I think it’s very difficult to replicate culture,” he added. “It takes a long time. You have to hire the right people, and then those people hire the next generation of great people. Over time, that builds the organization.”
Hearing Tim Cook talk about this really reminds me that Apple has always been more than just the products we see on stage. Behind every iPhone, Mac, or Apple Watch, there are talented people working together in a culture that encourages creativity and innovation.

My thoughts
Looking back at Apple’s journey over the past 50 years, it’s incredible to see how a small company that started in a garage grew into one of the most influential technology companies in the world. From the Macintosh to the iPhone, Apple has introduced products that didn’t just improve technology, but often changed the way we interact with it. I loved watching the interview with Tim Cook and how passionate he talks about Apple. And also how serious he took the advice from Steve Jobs, when he became CEO of Apple.
As someone who really started appreciating Apple products around the time the iPhone 4 was released, it’s fascinating to see how far the company has come since then. Apple’s focus on design, simplicity, and innovation continues to shape the tech industry today.
I think that the new book Apple: The First 50 Years is a great way to explore that journey in more detail. It looks back at the people, the products, and the moments that helped shape Apple into the company we know today.
If you’re interested in reading the book, Apple: The First 50 Years is available on Amazon, where you can purchase it in hardcover, Audio CD, and it is also available digitally in the Apple Books Store.
For Apple fans and anyone interested in technology history, this looks like a wonderful book to add to your collection.
