How to Customize Siri’s Voice in iOS 27

Do you want Siri to speak faster, sound calmer or feel more expressive? iOS 27 introduces new voice controls that let you adjust Siri’s speaking pace and expressiveness.

These controls are part of the new Advanced Siri experience and use Apple’s more powerful on-device AI model.

Which iPhones support Siri’s new voice controls?

Although many iPhones can run iOS 27, Siri’s Pace and Expressivity controls require an iPhone with at least 12GB of RAM.

The feature is currently available on:

  • iPhone 17 Pro

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max

  • iPhone Air

If you have another iPhone model, the new voice customization sliders will not appear. If you use an iPhone 15 Pro or newer that has not 12GB of RAM, you are able to use other Siri AI features.

How to customize Siri’s voice in iOS 27

Step 1: Open Siri in settings
Open the Settings app on your iPhone, scroll down and tap Siri

Step 2: Activate the new Siri

If you have not activated Advanced Siri yet, tap Turn On Siri.

When asked which version you want to use, select Try the New Siri instead of Use Previous Version.
Your iPhone may need some time to download and prepare the required AI models. If you’re using the iOS 27 beta for the first time, you may need to join the waitlist for the new Siri. Many testers have already received access, so activation appears to be faster following the release of the public beta.

Step 3: Open the Voice menu

Inside Siri’s settings, tap Voice.

Choose one of the voices that supports the new customization controls. The available options can depend on your selected language and region.

Step 4: Adjust Siri’s speaking pace

Move the Pace slider to change how quickly Siri speaks.

  • Move it lower for slower, easier-to-follow responses.

  • Move it higher if you prefer quicker answers.

Siri will play a preview as you adjust the setting, helping you find a comfortable speed.

Step 5: Adjust Siri’s expressivity

Move the Expressivity slider to change Siri’s vocal emotion and intonation.

  • Choose a lower level for a calmer, more neutral voice.

  • Choose a higher level for a livelier, more conversational voice.

Try a few levels until Siri sounds natural to you.

Step 6: Save your new voice

When you are happy with the result, tap the back button in the top-left corner.

Your selected voice settings will now be used when Siri speaks. Apple says these adjustments may also apply to spoken content in apps such as Maps and Safari.

Can’t find the new voice controls?

Check the following:

  • Your iPhone is an iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max or iPhone Air.

  • Your device is running a recent version of the iOS 27 beta.

  • You selected a supported Siri language and voice.

  • Your iPhone has finished downloading and preparing the required AI models.

Restarting the iPhone may help if the controls still do not appear after setup is complete.

Beta note: iOS 27 is currently in beta. Menu names, supported voices and availability may change before the final release in September 2026voi. Beta versions can also contain bugs that temporarily prevent the sliders from working.
