How to Automatically Fix Weak or Compromised Passwords in iOS 27
Weak or compromised passwords are something you definitely want to fix, but going through every account and changing them manually can take a lot of time. With iOS 27, Apple makes this much easier.
The Passwords app now has a new Automatically Fix Passwords feature that uses Apple Intelligence to help change eligible weak or compromised passwords for you. It can sign in to the website, navigate to the right settings and replace your old password with a new, stronger one.
Here’s how it works.
1. Open the Passwords app
Open the Passwords app on your iPhone and unlock it with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
Tap Security.
This is where you can see passwords that may need your attention, including passwords that are weak or have been found in a known data leak.
2. Tap Automatically Fix Passwords
If you have weak or compromised passwords that can be updated automatically, you'll see a new Automatically Fix Passwords message inside the Security section.
Tap Get Started.
This is a new feature in iOS 27 that uses Apple Intelligence to do much of the work of changing your passwords for you.
3. Allow access to verification codes
Next, the Passwords app will ask for permission to temporarily access verification codes you receive.
Tap Allow.
This is useful because some websites require a verification code before you're allowed to sign in or change your password. Giving temporary access means the Passwords app can use these codes when needed while fixing your passwords.
4. Your iPhone starts fixing your passwords
You'll now see a Fixing Passwords screen.
From here, Apple Intelligence takes over much of the process. Your iPhone signs in to the website, navigates to the password settings and changes your weak or compromised password to a new, stronger password.
You don't have to search through the website or manually create and enter a new password yourself.
5. Your new password is saved automatically
Once the password has been successfully changed, the new password is saved in the Passwords app.
That means there's nothing for you to remember or write down. The next time you sign in to that account, your iPhone can automatically fill in your new password.

Not every password can be fixed automatically
The feature only works with eligible websites and accounts, so you may still have some security recommendations that need to be fixed manually.
If Automatically Fix Passwords doesn't appear in the Security section, it may simply mean that you don't currently have any eligible passwords that can be updated this way.
Why this is such a useful iOS 27 feature
Before iOS 27, the Passwords app could already warn you when a password was weak or compromised. But you still had to visit the website and change that password yourself.
With Automatically Fix Passwords, Apple Intelligence can now help take care of that process for you.
My tip? Open Passwords → Security and check if you see Automatically Fix Passwords. If you do, tap Get Started and let your iPhone do the hard work for you.
