How to Use the New One-Tap Paste Button in iOS 27
Copying and pasting on your iPhone just got a little quicker and better in iOS 27.
Normally, after copying something, you have to tap or long-press inside a text field and then choose Paste from the pop-up menu. Apple still supports that familiar method, along with the three-finger paste gesture.
But in iOS 27, copied content can also appear as a Paste option directly above the keyboard, so you can insert it with just one tap.
Here’s how it works:
Find something you want to copy, such as a piece of text, a link, or other supported content.
Touch and hold the content and tap Copy.
Open the app where you want to paste it, such as Messages, Notes, Mail, or Safari.
Tap inside the text field so the keyboard appears.
Look above the keyboard for the Paste suggestion.
Tap Paste once.
Your copied content is immediately inserted into the text field.
That’s it. There is no need to long-press inside the text field and wait for the traditional Paste menu to appear.
Why is this useful?
It’s a very small change, but if you regularly copy links, text, addresses, or other information between apps, it removes an extra step every time you paste something.
For example, you could copy a website link from Safari, open Messages, tap the text field and then simply tap Paste above your keyboard.
I copy and paste things on my iPhone all the time, so this is exactly the kind of small iOS 27 improvement that I appreciate. It doesn’t completely change how you use your iPhone, but it makes something you probably do every day just a little faster.
Good to know: The normal copy-and-paste options are still available in iOS 27, so you can continue to tap and hold and choose Paste or use Apple’s three-finger paste gesture if you prefer.
